i am more than...the pursuit

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  Matthew 6:33

Each night when we lay down in our beds, it marks the end of a day…the end of choices, the end of decisions, the end of actions.  It also marks the end of inaction. As each second ticks away, a moment in time that was once our future, has now left our present, and will permanently reside in our past.  A second that we will never get back.  A second we can only look back on as a memory.  What do our memories say about the lives we lead?

i am more than...my relationship status

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.  Now remain in my love.”  John 15:9

What better time to talk about love & relationships than the week of Valentine’s Day…no matter what your relationship status may currently be, odds are, you’ll think about love & relationships at some point by Thursday.

I have this love/hate type of relationship with Valentine’s Day.  When I’m in a relationship, I love it! I love cards, roses, jewelry, stuffed animals, dinner & a movie, all of it!  But when I’m in a relationship with me, myself, I and Jesus, I’m pretty sure it’s the DUMBEST holiday ever!  This is my first post-divorce V-Day…and I was about “this close” (imagine fingers so close together they may as well be touching) to completely writing off Valentine’s Day, erasing it from all the calendars and my memory, and hiding under my comforter until February 15th.

Luckily for me, I have amazing friends, and I had another one of those epiphany moments…

i am more than… the experience

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you…” Psalm 63:1a

Have you ever had “the experience?”  You know, that moment in praise & worship when the Holy Spirit just seems to overtake you and no matter what you do, sing, or shout you can’t praise Him enough…or during church or a conference, where the message was written just for you and your situation.  There could be hundreds or even thousands of other people in the room, but you KNOW that God is speaking directly to you.  You want Him, you desperately need Him!  You leave feeling refreshed, empowered, and so fired up for Christ that you feel like you can take on the world!  You and Your trusty Bible!  That, my friend, is “the experience!”
